Introduction

In the Gambella Region of Ethiopia, there exists a long-standing conflict between the Nuer and Anyuak communities. As a member of the Nuer community, I firmly believe in the value of peaceful co-existence and strive to foster unity among these two communities. Despite the ongoing fighting and the perception of Nuer as non-indigenous, it is crucial to understand the shared history and heritage of these tribes.

Historical context of Gambella Region

Gambella Region is home to five indigenous tribes, namely the Nuer, Anyuak, Majang, Komo, and others. These tribes have coexisted for generations, each contributing to the unique cultural fabric of the region. It is essential to acknowledge this shared heritage and appreciate the diversity that Gambella offers.

Misunderstandings and misconceptions

One of the major misunderstandings between the Nuer and Anyuak communities lies in the perception of Nuer as non-indigenous. The Anyuak community views Nuer as refugees from South Sudan, suggesting that they should return to their land of origin. However, this belief is unfounded and fails to recognize the historically intertwined nature of these communities.

For that. let us embrace the privilege of our two communities happened to be habitants from two countries Ethiopian and South Sudan.

Nuer's perspective

Contrary to the perception held by the Anyuak community, Nuer do not consider their neighboring communities as enemies. Apart from times of war and conflict, Nuer harbor no animosity toward other communities. They continue to welcome and accept others into their community, promoting a sense of unity and respect.

Plea for reconciliation

I implore the Anyuak community to cease the senseless violent activities targeted at the Nuer people. The ongoing cycle of violence serves no purpose but to deepen the wounds and widen the divide. Nuer are willing to be the bridge for peace and harmony, offering their support and assistance to the Anyuak community. It is time to lay down arms and work towards a shared future.

Reflection on migratory nature of humanity

In a world where migration is a fundamental aspect of human history, it is senseless to kill one another based on perceived origins. We are all migrants in some sense, and we are destined to return to the land from which we came. Let us rise above the confines of geographical boundaries and embrace our shared humanity.

Historical background of Gambella’s annexation

The annexation of Gambella Region by Ethiopia can be traced back to a tumultuous historical period. The Arab Sudan government, in collusion with the Ethiopian government, played a significant role in altering the region's status. It is essential to acknowledge this historical context to better understand the complexities surrounding its current situation.

Warning against external interference

We must be cautious of external powers that may benefit from our division. The Ethiopian government's potential intervention in the ongoing conflict should not be viewed as a solution, as it may serve their own interests. Our strength lies in unity, and we must be vigilant in safeguarding our autonomy and rights.

The importance of restoring peace

Now more than ever, it is imperative for us to restore peace and rebuild the ties that bind our loving communities. By halting the unnecessary bloodshed, we can focus on collective prosperity and development. Let us envision a future where the generations to come thrive in a region united by peace and harmony.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the conflict between the Nuer and Anyuak communities in the Gambella Region has no justification. We must recognize our shared heritage and work towards peaceful co-existence, setting aside animosity and embracing unity. It is time to put an end to the cycle of violence and build a better future for our beloved region, Gambella.

Gambella is the home of five indigenous tribes. It's Nuer, Anyuak, Majeng, Komo, and Oppo. These five indigenous tribes have their own different culture or life style. But among them Nuer and Anyuak have funk conflict which created by the presidents and their cabinets, because they don't want to tell the truth. They are looking for their benefits. Hopefully, Gambella region will be the last region in Ethiopia due to this tribal conflict since 2010 E.C

You made tremendous contributions towards peaceful coexistence of five national of Gambella such as the Nuer, Anyuak, Mezenger, Koma and Opo. The four tribes are yearning for peace while Anyuak are busy with daily killings. Anytime in Gambella history when an Anyuak is in power, they uses it as a weapon to kill others. It would be better for them to embark onto a peaceful Ark and live safely in the region.

Please look 👀 at them.
